the transition

It began before the inauguration with policy tweets, diplomacy tweets, emotional outrage tweets, snit tweets, twit tweets, business bullying tweets, self pitying tweets from the freak twit himself … and Mira wonders if this will become normal, will she just yawn over this new style of excess self indulgence and promotion? That really is the big question - how will we respond when the crap is flying and there’s no parent in the room to manage the food fights?

She just learned that atomic scientists have moved the Doomsday Clock closer to midnight due to this erratic leader, the closest since 1953.

the bullies

Pooty and the Donny are cowardly bullies, Tweety Dee and Tweety Dum, a sort of  Brothers Idiotovs, colluding and throwing their weight around because they are afraid of a girl.

Just wait til they meet Kali, Mother Nature! Mira would like a front row seat to that rumble. Two pink puffballs squashed by a black fearless goddess with grit and weaponry who stands up to any explosive crap.

Kellyanne keeps trying to put lipstick on them, but no matter how you color it, this administration is in deep doo, up to their little curly tails.

Mira's friend reminded her that during the second world war, C.S. Lewis was chastised for staying on teaching literature at Oxford to which he responded that had the initial human search for truth and beauty been postponed until more secure times, it never would have begun.

Mira senses that we have a duty to live our humanity, and though we may die for a cause, it is best to have lived for creative reasons. She finds this dedication to truth, beauty, and goodness to be a touchstone of relief in dark times.

the imperitive

Surely there is something we should be doing, and she wonders what activism looks like in these times. How many forms can resistance take? Well, just in time, others are asking the same question and coming up with good stuff, like laughtivism … coyote action she thinks, and this is appealing.

And then there's her local brand of Women's March, insisting on going high and being positive. She thinks they are modeling lovetivism and she is with them, in fact she loves them working away in her kitchen, together.

the leaders

She senses a different sort of leadership is rising, a wisdom of community rather than the stultifying top down structures we are used to. More “yes” to each others’ good ideas and intentions, building a collage of our intelligence, more of a net, less of a pyramid.

And like ants in a colony she feels that when one of them is in need of rest or to do other things, new workers will step in and take their turn, for goodness sake.

Maybe Kali energy is leading this process in her wiley ways.

the love

The love that arose during the planning, in the march, and after the march is surely the indication that this is the glue that holds us together ... all of us, and asks us to expand beyond our wildest longing, to stretch into new possibilities of community that we can't begin to imagine.

Here's a short video from her march.

the friends

At recent gatherings Mira has noticed that the hugs are long, strong, and honoring, people sensing and demonstrating that they love and need each other. And this is a readying of the ground from which to do their work. She knows that we need the “We” of us to be strong, courageous, wise, empathic, unyielding, yet responsive to changing conditions ... nimble like cats.

the symbol

And speaking of pussies, Mira thinks the resistance needs a symbol, a simple image that persistently pricks the thin skin of his twitiocy. Of course her first choice is nasty pussy inspired, but this is because of her particular brand of outrage and humor. Is there a collective symbol of power over cowardice, love over fear, moving forward vs retreating, that can connect us,?

She is watching for it, tail swishing.

the gifts

While Mira was perusing the New York Times photos of Women's Marches from around the globe and feeling the magnitude of the solidarity and potential impact, it occurred to her that Mr. Trump may be the gift we have been given to motivate the communality it will take to protect our very asses from extinction.

Unlike the parliamentary system of her native home where a simple vote of no confidence can result in an immediately called election and in a few weeks a mistake resolved, she wonders if it may take the 25th amendment for the first time used for mental health reasons. Scary stuff but it may be the gift of early removal if implosion is not forthcoming.

She hopes Melania gets the gift of freedom, and little Baron too.
